Eni makes 2 Tcf gas discovery offshore Egypt with fast-track development potential

(WO) – Eni has made a big fuel and condensate discovery offshore Egypt, with preliminary estimates indicating roughly 2 Tcf of fuel initially in place (GIIP) on the Denise W-1 exploration properly within the Temsah concession.

The properly is positioned about 70 km offshore in 95 m of water depth within the Japanese Mediterranean. The invention encountered a high-quality sandstone reservoir with roughly 50 m of internet pay, much like the close by Temsah subject, which has been in manufacturing since 2001.

Proximity to current infrastructure—lower than 10 km from processing and export services—is predicted to allow a fast-track growth, decreasing prices and accelerating time to market.

Eni stated the invention helps Egypt’s efforts to extend home fuel manufacturing and strengthen power safety. It additionally aligns with the corporate’s technique of focusing on near-field and infrastructure-led exploration to unlock further assets in mature areas.

The Denise W-1 properly follows a 20-year renewal of the Temsah concession signed in 2025 with EGPC and EGAS. Eni holds a 50% operated curiosity within the Denise Improvement Lease, with bp holding the remaining 50%. Operations are carried out by means of Petrobel, the three way partnership between Eni and EGPC.
