SLB secures multi-year contracts to support PDO operations in Oman

(WO) – SLB has been awarded two five-year contracts by Petroleum Improvement Oman (PDO) to produce wellheads and synthetic elevate techniques for operations in Block 6, Oman’s largest oil and fuel concession.

Beneath the agreements, SLB will present low- and high-pressure wellheads, thermal wellhead techniques, and synthetic elevate applied sciences, together with electrical submersible pumps (ESPs) and progressive cavity pumps (PCPs). The gear will assist PDO’s efforts to maintain manufacturing and enhance restoration throughout mature property within the concession.

Manufacturing and meeting work shall be carried out in Oman as a part of PDO’s in-country worth (ICV) program. Wellheads shall be produced at SLB’s facility in Rusayl, whereas ESPs shall be assembled, examined and serviced on the firm’s middle in Nizwa. SLB mentioned it plans to develop native manufacturing functionality, together with the introduction of made-in-Oman gate valve manufacturing throughout the first six months of contract execution.

The contracts additionally embody deployment of superior applied sciences corresponding to modular compact wellhead techniques, ESP surveillance options and everlasting magnet motors, that are designed to cut back energy consumption and assist long-term subject effectivity.

“These contracts assist PDO’s manufacturing and restoration targets whereas advancing native manufacturing and workforce growth,” mentioned Jesus Lamas, president for the Center East and North Africa at SLB.

Block 6 is the cornerstone of Oman’s upstream sector and accounts for almost all of the nation’s oil and fuel manufacturing.
